1st May, 2006 - Zeus Technology, ANT Software and Screen Technology select Intralink to grow market presence and revenues in China

Three high growth Cambridge technology companies have selected Asia Pacific market access specialists Intralink to drive their sales and business development activities in the booming Chinese market.

Zeus Technology, ANT Software and Screen Technology have all targeted the world's fastest growing economy as a key market - and turned to Intralink because of their record in helping Cambridge-based companies gain early traction in the difficult but rewarding Chinese and Japanese markets.

Intralink already represents a number of key Cambridge technology companies - including Datapaq, CMR Fuel Cells, Cambridge Positioning Systems and Plastic Logic. Today's announcement further highlights the significant opportunities available for sales, licensing and joint R&D or application development initiatives for technology companies in the region.

All three companies have signed on to Intralink's Surrogate Sales Program ™ whereby Intralink acts in a surrogate capacity to scope the market, establish a network of VARs, sell direct, set up licensing deals and build a technical, sales and management structure. This has proved a very effective, low risk transition to eventual establishment of wholly owned operations or joint venture partnerships with Chinese firms.

The three companies include:

Zeus Technology is a leading developer of traffic management software that enables large organizations to effectively and efficiently handle the vast number of daily internet transactions while maintaining customer response times. Zeus's Vice President of Sales, Steve Webb, pointed out: “As the Chinese demand for Internet services grows, we strongly believe that a commercial presence in China will enable us to broaden our reach to the largest national corporations. Intralink's experience in marketing and licensing software technology to our target customers made them a prime choice for developing our presence in China. I also liked the transparency, flexibility and scalability of their surrogate approach.”

Digital and IP television software specialists ANT software has developed an application base which will control and provide the flexible customer browser interface for the next generation of consumer electronics devices. ANT's CEO Simon Woodward explained: “Our latest generation browser software offers higher performance and increased functionality with significantly lower processing demands, saving costs for hardware developers and offering value-added services for channel partners and content providers. Our presence in China through Intralink will drive the adoption of our technology into new products which we expect to reach the market in 2006.”

Screen Technology has won several prestigious international awards for its flexible, large scale display screens which are used in retail and commercial locations where wide viewing angles and proximity to consumers is vital. Screen Technology's Commercial Director Andy Holmes stated: “Intralink's record of converting interest into revenues right across the distribution chain was critical in our decision to work with them in China and in Japan.”

Intralink CEO, James Lawson, said: “China's continued economic growth and the underlying political will to overtake the West presents a massive opportunity for leading edge technology. Cambridge has been at the forefront of international expansion into China and we are happy to be working closely with venture-backed physical and life science companies in the region to build their businesses in the two most important strategic markets in Asia. We are now in our sixteenth year and it is a testimony to the success of our surrogate sales development model that our operations in Shanghai and in Tokyo continue to grow rapidly.”
