| CORNING INC APPOINTS INTRALINK TO LICENSING ROLE FOR MOULDED GLASS PROCESS FOR ASIA PACIFIC MARKET |

9th September, 2005 - Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) has appointed Asia Pacific market access specialists Intralink Limited to seek licensees in Japan, Taiwan and China for a portfolio of their US patented glass-moulding processes. Under the terms of the representation agreement, Intralink will focus on negotiating licensing agreements with regional manufacturers of specialist moulded glass products that are widely used in digital cameras, mobile phones and optical communication systems. Using a process developed by Corning in the mid-1980s, aspheric glass lenses offer considerable cost and performance benefits over those made out of other materials. As well as being defraction limited, aspheric glass operates over a much broader temperature and humidity range without any degradation of performance. In digital cameras alone, shipments of aspheric glass lenses to the United States are expected to exceed 20 million units in 2005 with the vast majority supplied from Asian market.
