9th July, 2009 – Tokyo, Japan – Intralink today announced that it has been appointed by AnaFocus, a leading provider of custom sensors, cameras and vision systems, to explore and exploit market opportunities in Japan. The Seville, Spain-based fabless company, which has successfully designed and produced a variety of CMOS Cameras on Chip and Vision Systems on Chip (VSoC) since its inception in 2001, will work with Intralink to investigate new industrial applications in Japan’s hi-tech landscape. With several international patent applications to its name, AnaFocus’ technology for the design of custom high-speed, high-performance imaging and vision systems have drawn interest from world-leading camera manufacturers in industrial machine vision, high-performance surveillance, medical imaging and scientific applications. In particular, the company’s revolutionary VSoC architectures combine world-beating real-time image processing capabilities with strikingly low production costs. Drawing on 20 years of experience in Japan and a deep-rooted understanding of the market, Intralink will lead a sales campaign to target Japan’s robotics, sensor and camera OEMs. The company will manage the initiative through its Surrogate Sales Program™, which has provided dozens of venture-backed technology companies with a low-risk, cost-effective route to the Japanese market. “Our technology for on-chip embedding of full-camera functions, together with image-processing functions, enables highly miniaturized cameras and vision systems with CCD-like performance. Over the last two years we have proven through several design wins that our technology has high potential for Japanese industrial sensor and camera OEMs,” said AnaFocus General Manager Rafael Romay. “We are excited and pleased about our cooperation with Intralink and looking forward to expanding our current presence in Japan to other high-potential market sectors.” Intralink CEO Gregory Sutch said: “AnaFocus has a remarkable and unique technology. We have many years of experience in the semiconductor sector and are delighted to be able to extend it to such a pioneering company.” About AnaFocus: AnaFocus, a spin-off of IMSE-CNM/CSIC and the University of Seville founded by Prof. Angel Rodríguez-Vázquez and Drs. Rafael Domínguez-Castro and Fernando Medeiro , is developing a family of innovative and high-performance on-chip CMOS vision systems. These systems use bio-inspired, proprietary hardware/software architectures designed to achieve compact implementations with very high speed operation and very low power consumption. AnaFocus also offers specialist design services for single-chip solutions embedding advanced optical CMOS sensors, high-performance read-out channel with embedded A/D conversion and complex image processing circuitry. |
