Targets Chinese OEMs and ODMs with Europe and US-sourced technologies

1st November, 2006 - Intralink announced today that it has opened an office in the city of Shenzhen, Guangdong province, its second in China. Located in the downtown district of Luo Hu (Lo Wu), the office is easily accessed from Hong Kong and has good road and rail links to the Futian and Nanshan districts of Shenzhen, as well as further west to the industrial cities of Dongguan and Guangzhou.

Intralink’s operation in China undertakes business development and sourcing initiatives for UK and US-based companies. The company works with clients in a broad range of sectors, including healthcare, automotive and construction, but the focus is technology – companies licensing or selling into the consumer electronics, mobile communications or enterprise solutions markets.

Intralink’s COO Greg Sutch said, “To date, we have managed our projects out of our office in Shanghai – by locating a team in Shenzhen, we will enhance the value of our service to those clients whose target customer and supplier base is located principally in and around Shenzhen.”

Shenzhen is the centre of China’s booming consumer electronics and IT industries. Leading Chinese OEMs like Konka, TCL, ZTE and Huawei have important operations in Shenzhen, and many ODMs and EMSs have their headquarters in the city. It is estimated that up to 70% of the world's consumer electronic products are manufactured in or near Shenzhen, from mp3 players and audio boomboxes, to TVs, set-top boxes and PVRs.
