Nick was a key member of the team that set up and managed the first IKEA stores in China. After that, he worked as the China General Manager of a German manufacturer of musical instruments, establishing a wholly foreign-owned enterprise (WFOE) in the Waigaoqiao development zone near Shanghai. He has spent a total of 12 years in China, including one year at Nanjing University in 1996 where he studied Chinese language. He holds a Bachelor of Business (International Trade) and a Bachelor of Arts (International Relations) from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, and an Executive MBA from the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California.

Nick has experience across a number of key industry sectors, including ICT, retail, chemicals and life sciences. He has worked with a diverse range of products, such as carrier Ethernet switches, drug discovery data management software, biocides, digital broadcast products and food ingredients, and has generated significant revenues for Intralink's European and US clients in these areas. He has managed complex and indepth market studies and developed and implemented business plans and go-to-market strategies. He has a good understanding of the legal and taxation environment for foreign-invested companies in China, and sits on the board of a number of Shanghai-based WFOEs as a non-executive director.
